When burning your candle the first time, please burn it for at least 4 hours to ensure a complete melted pool of wax across the entire top of the candle.  This will help to avoid "tunneling".  If tunneling does occur, you can make a tin foil tent around the top of the candle for a few minutes so the heat will melt all the way across the top of the candle.  Please follow all safety instructions on the safety label located on the bottom of the candle.
